One problem I struggle with--my main source of writer's block--is finding an appropriate theme. If I'm going to take the time to sit down and pound out some prose, I want to make sure I'm writing about something important and meaningful in our lives.
I often pick themes of love, communication and misunderstanding, and a sense of futility. These are things that I find have a profound effect on me, and things that I would like to understand better.
What are some of the themes that you, as fiction writers, choose to write about, and why?
